One Of Best Motivational Stories
I just saw the movie ‘The Blind Side’ starring Sandra Bullock who won an Oscar for her role. This movie is about one of the best motivational stories I’ve come across in a long time. It’s based on the true story of Michael Oher, one of the NFL’s rising stars (National Football League in the USA).
Michael Oher was a black teenager from the poverty stricken part of Memphis, Tennessee and although I won’t go into the storyline here, he was taken in by a white family. He became a football star in high school and was pursued by several colleges offering scholarships. He was finally drafted by the NFL’s Baltimore team.
Why This Movie Is Tops Among Motivational Stories
I’m not a football fan but it doesn’t matter since I think The Blind Side is one of the best ‘feel good’ type of movies I’ve ever seen and it comes across as tops in my book among motivational stories because it is based on a true story. But the reason why this movie and story really impacts me is because it shows that in this world of conflicts between people of different races, it shows an example where people from different colours and social economic backgrounds can benefit from each other.
This story shows that hope, caring, love, trust and belief in others can cross racial barriers. It makes me feel that despite the conflicts we still have on this planet between races, there are good people out there and that when people truly help each other, the end results are awesome. In this case, we have a black kid who could have easily ended up with the wrong side of the law or maybe dead, end up as a rising professional football star and a white family that has learned from the experience of helping this kid have a chance in life.
The movie The Blind Side is a must see in my mind but to give you a better perspective of what this true story is all about, see the ABC video about Michael Oher and his story. See this video since it shows scenes from the movie as well as clips from some of the real people who were portrayed in the film.
This is the first time that I really recommended a movie but I felt so good about it that I just had to. Again, it’s one of the most motivational stories I’ve come across and we all need to hear about these.
