Team Motivation
Sometimes team motivation is required for some goals when self motivation is not enough. I was chatting recently with some people who were either trying to lose weight or quit smoking which are two of the toughest challenges to tackle. Now, I’ve never really had a problem with either of these issues since I’ve never really been overweight and I don’t smoke.
These people were having some really tough problems in terms of getting enough motivation to do the things they had to do but one thing upon further discussion came out. The one thing all of these folks had in common was that they were all trying to break their habit of either not being active enough, eating too much unhealthy foods or smoking on their own. That is, they all tried to self motivate to throw out the cigarettes, get in the gym or stay away from junk food. And they all failed miserably on these.
Team Motivation Provides Accountability
What I said to these folks is that for some goals, especially the really tough ones like they are trying to achieve, it might not be feasible for them to tackle them solo. Some of the more ambitious goals in life require getting help from a group of people who will not only help keep you motivated and encouraged when you need it, but will also keep you accountable. This is real key here since when one is alone, there’s nobody else to keep you accountable.
Achieving some of these goals by yourself is possible for some people but for others, accountability is required. It’s too easy to cheat and let go of plans when you are by yourself where when you are part of a group where everyone is there to motivate each other, there’s much more accountability which makes all the difference in the world.
So the missing ingredient for the people who are trying to lose weight or stop smoking is team motivation and they would benefit a great deal if they actively got involved with support groups that specialize in these specific goals.
Team motivation is also a big factor in many work related environments and that’s where I can come in to help out organizations in this field. See my business motivational speaker info for more details.
