Inspiration Definition
For me, part of my inspiration definition should be progress. That is, anything that inspires me should have the capacity to get me to progress further along the success journey. At the beginning of this summer, I outlined my seasonal outdoor swimming workout where I started with 50 laps in the pool.
The first two swim workouts after a couple of months without being in water were quite brutal as I struggled to finish my 50 laps. Maybe the broken pool heater also had something to do with it as the water was freezing cold. But my success from last year inspired me to push on while in the pool.
Past Successes Can Be Inspiration Definition Too
This shows that past successes can be part of inspiration definition for me too. Sure enough, after a few more sessions in the pool as I’m in at least three times per week, the 50 laps got easier and easier. So this past weekend, I made the decision to step my workout to my advanced routine which is 70 laps.
I’ve had two workouts of 70 laps and it’s definitely harder than the 50 but at least I’m able to finish it. This is part of the progress in my inspiration definition. The success of the 50 laps inspires me to do the 70 laps version of my workout and I’ll probably do this advanced one for the rest of the season.
So here’s what my swim workout looks like now;
warmup stretches before pool entry
20 laps front crawl
10 laps butterfly
10 laps front crawl
10 laps butterfly
20 laps front crawl
tread water using 3 different kicks at 30 kicks each
cool down stretch
This type of swim workout takes me 35 to 40 minutes to do so it’s not a long workout but doesn’t a great job in helping me stay in shape all summer long. Finding a system like this that creates positive results is also a part of my inspiration definition.
I hope you find your own inspiration definition that works for you as well. For a 3-part personal growth video free inspiration series, just see the intro video up at the top left sidebar (or click on the previous link).
