As mentioned in the heading for this new blog, I am a world champion martial artist. Let me clarify a bit on this. I have been involved in martial arts for over 35 years having trained in kung fu, karate, tae kwon do and kickboxing. I have been competing in martial arts since 1985. I’ve competed and have won world titles in most of the major martial arts open competition circuits in North American including NASKA, NBL, WOMAA and WSKF. I have also won Canadian national championships.
I have been and still currently a member this year, of the Canadian National Karate team and will be competing internationally in both Ireland at the WOMAA championships and in Orlando for the WKA world championships.
What does this have to do with motivation? Lots! Progressing in martial arts training helps one become motivated in other aspects of life. Gradual goals are set and you work towards to achieve them. Each step higher builds your confidence. Also motivation you learn from outside martial arts help competitors train harder and at my age, constant motivation is required. So for me, I find that martial arts in my life goes hand in hand with motivation. It’s just interesting how sometimes martial arts helps motivate me for other areas while other times, outside motivation helps my martial arts.
This has influenced me to even design a martial arts t-shirt called ‘Martial Arts For Life‘
