Living The High Life But

I saw a guy in his mid to late twenties posting a photo of his snazzy new high end car on Facebook recently.  This was just one example of how this fellow was living the high life along with other consumer luxuries such as the latest smart phones, big screen TVs and other electronic gadgets I don’t even know what they do.

Of course, frequent outings with pals in the trendiest eateries and bars is also regular on his calendar as there are many Facebook photos to prove that as well.  It might seem that this guy has hit the big time.

Still Can’t Move Out Yet

But upon closer inspection of this guy’s life, not everything is as rosy as it seems.  This guy, like many of his peers, both male and female, despite spending money like crazy on all sorts of stuff, still can’t afford to move out of his parent’s house yet.

That’s right, he’s still sleeping in the same little bedroom that he grew up in as a child with mommy and daddy’s room just doors away.

It seems that his guy is not alone as many young people in their late twenties and even into their thirties are still living at home or have had to move back in with their parents after a brief time away.  These folks have little or no savings of their own as they spend pretty well everything they make and sometimes spend more than then make.

They have no equity of their own and would not be able to afford a down payment on a starter home.  Never mind the prospect of home ownership, these people can’t even afford to rent an apartment of their own.

But they continue to spend recklessly and live the high life only to come home night after night to the same room where their GI Joes and Barbie dolls were kept on the shelves.

Yeah, high life for sure!

It’s quite obvious that these young people have to get their priorities straight and sort out the ‘need to have’ items with the ‘nice to have’ ones in terms of their spending.  Otherwise, they are going to be living with mommy and daddy for a long time yet.
