Personal Development Training For Kids
Is personal development training appropriate for kids? Well, as adults, many of us already know that our traditional school systems were deficient in educating us in many important life skills like personal finance, interpersonal skills, teamwork and other skills which are important for success. Many of us are playing ‘catch up ball’ in our adult years to make up for any deficiencies in these areas we may have.
So if we are parents, we certainly don’t want this to happen to our kids. However, the school system hasn’t changed all that much since our time. The kids are still studying Shakespeare rather than learning how not to get into personal debt. They still don’t get enough training at school in terms of interpersonal skills which we now recognize as even more important than grades for future success.
Therefore, as responsible parents, we should try to get kids involved in many activities during the summer where they will get exposure to personal development training in interpersonal skills, teamwork and other important life skills. Such skills can be part of fun activities with groups that foster development of teamwork and cooperation.
Of course, sports activities would be a major component since not only will such character traits such as sportsmanship be emphasized, but overall health habits could be developed as well. Other courses or summer camps that also involve the development of interpersonal skills will be very beneficial for kids since they will not get much of this during the school year.
Summer Personal Development Training Very Beneficial
Perhaps for part of the summer, get the kids involved in some type of work so that they begin to appreciate the real value of money and some basic finance principles. This area is severely lacking in the traditional school systems. Observe just how many young people get into serious debt in their 20s and even 30s. The earlier kids learn about finances, the better off they will be.
Therefore, summer personal development training would be very beneficial for kids. Yes, kids should have fun during the summer but if you choose the right programs for them, they can learn some very useful life skills that they won’t get at school.
If you know of any events for students of high school age during the summer (student conferences) where they could use a youth motivational speaker, don’t hesitate to check out my youth speaking program that is available.
