Keynote Motivational Speaker Went Public
As a keynote motivational speaker, I could have easily stayed on safe material and just talked about all the classic success stories that many people already know about. These would include the likes of Thomas Edison’s thousands of attempts before he perfected the light bulb to Abraham Lincoln’s many failed attempts before he finally got elected as president of the United States (and eventually became one of the greatest US presidents ever).
But I chose to do something different and in 2009, I went public with a very personal story that I actually kept under the wraps for about 25 years. I know that some people out there would be disturbed by this story since from my experience throughout those 25 years, I often did get negative reactions from those few that I did reveal to.
Reasons Why It Was Time Again To Tell All
Then in 2009, I came out in a big way revealing the hidden secrets but in a planned way so that no other family members or relatives had their names revealed. I still wanted to keep their privacy secured since I know that they are still not at the stage where they can reveal the story yet.
For me, it was time and some thought it was a brave thing for a keynote motivational speaker to do as I embraced for more negative reactions from audiences. But I did make a calculated risk because this time around, instead of just revealing the story, I tied it to some very important learning principles that everyone can benefit from.
As a keynote motivational speaker, I feel that it is important to tie in stories with important learning principles that others can relate to. They can then take these principles and apply them to their own lives.
