There Are Good Things From The Middle East, Like Belly Dancing

Middle East Gets Bad Rep

Sometimes with all the media exposure about terrorism and riots, I think the Middle East along with the Muslim cultures and religion get a pretty bad rep.  Now I’m neither Middle Eastern nor Muslim.  I’m just a Canadian Chinese guy who happens to appreciate and respect all cultures of the world.

Yes, I do think terrorism in all its forms is nasty and all terrorists should be severely punished.  But to say that all folks from the Middle East (or Muslims) are terrorists is like saying that all Catholics are card-carrying members of the IRA or all Japanese and Germans still have secret plans to take over their respective regions of the world as the imperialists and Hitler envisioned.

Now come on folks!  We know that these generalizations just aren’t true!

The people who make these types of stereotyped generalizations are the same that think that all of us Chinese like to do mathematics as a hobby and prefer to squat rather than sit on toilets.  These people just haven’t been exposed to enough human diversity to realize that the troubles of the world out there are caused by the relatively small numbers of bad apples that can be found in any race or culture.

Show The Good From Human Diversity

So for today with Motivational WebTV #56, I’m going to show you some more good from human diversity via additional footage I shot from the Carassauga multicultural festival here in my hometown.  It’s easily one of my favourite moments from the entire festival.

This is the video performances of the lovely belly dancers showing their moves from Turkey, Lebanon and Egypt.  So you see folks, there are good things from the Middle East, not to mention the tasty cuisine that comes from that part of the world too.

Might Not Be Politically Correct But So What?

Now, some people might think that I might not be politically correct by showing half naked belly dancers on my blog by so what?  I’m even going to go as far as saying that I really love watching these ladies.  In fact, I wish I had this type of live entertainment at home and I’m not ashamed of it at all!

If you ever wondered what type of girl does Clint Cora like — well just look at the ones in the video 🙂  If any of them are available and can snow ski, I would really be in trouble!

To me, such human diversity performances have made me more open to the cultures behind them.  When I interact with Middle Easterners, I think about the really cool things about their culture like their music, dances and food rather than wondering if they are strapping bombs underneath their clothing.

Human Diversity Is Here To Stay So Use It

I know that there are some folks out there that haven’t jumped onto the diversity bandwagon yet.  But whether they like it or not, human diversity is here to stay.  Those individuals and companies who want to be successful better learn how to interact well with people from all different backgrounds.  Those who do not will simply be left behind and if that means more business for us who do embrace diversity, so be it.
