I think it’s a great thing that more and more of our country’s aboriginal people are making it into college for higher education. But just like many international students from overseas, the Canadian college campus could be a bit of a culture shock and the risk of alienation and isolation of such students are high. That’s another reason why it’s such a great idea to have places like aboriginal student centres where they can meet up with others. But to be truly included into college life with others, the rest of the college including other students and staff must also take on the right attitude of accepting diversity. As a college diversity speaker, this is where it will be extremely beneficial for all on campus to have diversity programs started to educate everyone on how to really embrace diversity for the better.
