Clint Cora Musician
Believe it or not, I’ve been playing music even longer than I’ve been training in martial arts, the field that many people know me for. I started classical piano lessons at age five and was forced (as many Asian parents typically do) to continue for ten long years even though I hated every bit of it. But then in my early teens, I taught myself how to play guitar and more specifically, loud rock guitar much to the dismay of my parents. I remember one time my guitar playing in our basement was so loud that parts of the dining room chandelier upstairs started to fall down!
During my senior high school years, I fronted rock bands which played live concerts and even went into recording studios to record songs. I usually served as the main songwriter, lead vocalist as well as lead guitarist. My musical style is centered in the hard rock vain but does expand into the jazz rock and pop rock genres.
As far as my musical influences, my two all time favourite bands are Def Leppard and Kiss. Other favourites include; ACDC, Aerosmith, April Wine, Beatles, Boston, Bryan Adams, Cheap Trick, Duran Duran, Foreigner, Goddo, Journey, Moxy, Roxette, Starz, UFO, Van Halen and ZZ Top. Since I’m a guitarist, I also have a list of favourite guitar players; Tom Scholtz, Jeff Healey, Jimi Hendrix, Michael Schenker, Joe Satriani, Randy Rhoads, Nocy, Rick Derringer, Rik Emmett, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Eddie Van Halen and Billy Gibbons. I use to have a huge vinyl records collection of about 350 as well as about 120 cassettes so I obviously listened to many more not included on these lists but again, my musical heart is mostly loyal to rock.
In addition to playing live concerts in bands, I’ve also been known to do solo acoustic performances which show another musical side of me.
Unity Power Force
When I’m not skiing nor scuba diving, I’m often working on musical projects including being the musical director of Unity Power Force, a community/online project promoting anti-racism and anti-discrimination through music, food and art. Here is the music video of a song I composed called In Harmony which promotes these worthy social causes. The song is also on the Spotify embed app right below.
