Clint with his two Lhasa Apso dogs Roxie & Chester

Clint Cora Dogs

My life as a dog owner started in 1979 with my first Lhasa Apso dog Pepper followed by a second one named Max. They were two of the most important teachers I ever had since Pepper and Max taught me about unconditional love as well as responsibility. They each lived for 15 years and after I took a five year break from dog ownership, I decided to get brother and sister (Lhasa Apsos again) Chester and Roxie.

By the time I got Chester and Roxie, I was more experienced as a dog owner and was already retired from corporate work life. As a result, I was able to give Chester and Roxie a fuller dog life in my opinion as I kept them busy with fun regular nature trail outings. I also organized a dog group around these outings so Chester and Roxie had lots of dog friends to socialize with. Although I never married and had a family of my own, my Lhasa Apso dogs were my family and I felt that we had a pretty darn good home life along with a busy social life through our dog group.

Chester and Roxie were well trained enough to star in a basic dog obedience video we created as well as a unique program on how to train dogs to use a litter box (just like cats) since all of my dogs were successfully dual trained to go to specific spots indoors as well as outdoors. We had a separate dedicated website on dog training which became an important part of my online internet business after I left corporate life.

Sadly, we lost Chester at age 13 and in early 2024, I finally lost Roxie when she was two months short of 19 years. Of course this is a major change in my own home life. My future dog life is uncertain at the moment as I plan to do some major world travel for about two years which I wasn’t willing to do when I still had my dogs. I’ll re-evaluate things after I get all this world travel out of my system whether dogs will be part of my life again or not.

I made special tribute videos for both Chester and Roxie showing their lives from puppyhood to senior age. You are most welcome to watch these below and you will see that we had a very happy life together which I miss terribly.

I have since retired my dog website but its YouTube channel full of our many other dog videos are still there for people to enjoy. This is a different one separate from my other YouTube channels so just click on the link above to access it.

I know from personal experience that having pets can be one of the best things one does in life but it’s not for everyone nor should getting a dog or cat ever be done without research in advance. Responsible pet ownership requires full commitment as well as training (both the pet and the owners!). So if getting a pet, please be responsible so that we do not end up with so many abandoned pets at the shelters.
