Physical Vs Digital Products?
Above is the soft cover book along with audio CD combo that I package together for those who are interested in getting pharmaceutical sales jobs since I was in that industry for many years. This product set is for readers who do want both the book and audio program. The actual set shown above is being shipped to a reader in San Diego. A combination of book and audio is a good way to really learn the important concepts required to get pharmaceutical sales jobs as well as learning in general.
However, we might be going through a shift. Back when How To Get A Dream Job In Pharmaceutical Sales – Direct Inside Advice and Guidance From A Sales Manager was first released, internet download speeds were not nearly as fast as today. And people’s hard drive capacities were lower too. So it made sense to make soft cover and audio CDs available in addition to their electronic counterpart versions. This is also what I did with my personal development book The Life Champion In You as it is also available in book and audio formats with both physical and electronic versions.
But now with much faster internet speeds and higher capacity hard drives, I’ve noticed that more and more people are just as happy to download the electronic versions of my products rather than order the hard copy versions.
This pharmaceutical sales jobs book/CD combo set might be the final one that I ship as I’m thinking of just making the electronic versions available from now on. Even the audio files are very quick to download and do not take much hard drive space in today’s computer systems.
I’ll be launching a new video program called Effective Communication Skills For Super Leadership soon and so far, I’m not even planning on releasing a DVD version as even video files are pretty easy to download these days.
Even with my best selling product which is my dog training book, How To Potty Train Your Puppy With A Litterbox, it’s the digital versions that sell the most. In the case of this title, both the ebook and the downloadable video program sells equally well. I do offer a physical DVD for the video version but the downloadable video version far outsells the DVD version. This all tells me that the DVD physical product might not even be worth maintaining.
I’ll have to of course wait and see a bit further to see how trends go but as the vast majority of my product sales in the last few years have been downloadable ebooks, audio and video files, hard copy versions may very well be the thing of the past.
