Summer Fitness Set To Go

The outdoor pool in my townhouse complex just opened up this weekend and since it’s a pretty short season that ends in September, I’m going to maximize the use of it.  Much like the previous two summers, I’m going to include swim workouts as part of my summer fitness workouts schedule by getting into the pool at least three times per week, rain or shine.

Last summer, I recall that I did swim a few days when there was light rain out there.  I figure that since I’m going to get wet anyway, a drizzle is not going to stop me from my swim workout.

I’ve been in my spring fitness schedule since the end of my winter ski season in mid March.  The opening of the outdoor pool brings some modifications into my fitness schedule over the week.

My Weekly Summer Workouts Schedule

Here is my summer workouts schedule I’ll be using from now until the end of pool season in early September.  The weekends will have some flexibility depending on what other social activity I have that has a fitness component.  I may still get in a swim and weight training session even if I do have a social fitness event or I may shift the swim to either Friday or Monday.

Monday – Martial Arts Forms & Stretch

Tuesday – Swim & Stretch

Wednesday – Weights & Super Stretch

Thursday – Swim & Stretch

Friday – Martial Arts Weapons

Saturday – Swim & Stretch

Sunday – Weights & Super Stretch

If the weather gets very hot out there, I may add in additional swim workouts throughout the week as well.  But I remember last summer, our pool heater was out for most of the start of the summer which required the use of my wetsuit.

We’ll see what happens this summer.  In any case, the swim workouts will contribute to my cardio fitness and usually by mid-summer, I’m at my peak in terms of physical conditioning.

By the way, all of these workouts take less than 30 minutes.  I can even get through my weights training routine in 15 minutes so for those of you who claim that you don’t have the time to exercise, it really should not be an excuse.

And if the weather is nice (not thundershowers), I’ll get outside with my Lhasa Apso dogs for another 30 minutes as well so that they get their fitness in too.  As you can tell, I’m serious about not only my own fitness health but also that of my dogs, ie., the total family!

What about you?  Do you have any summer fitness workouts schedule planned out?  If not, use my schedule to give you some ideas as the different types of workouts address different aspects of overall fitness.

If you have any questions regarding fitness and what I do in these workouts, feel free to ask them in the comments section below.
